The Home
The heart of the residence is built around an 1860s log cabin that was the original residence on the property. In 1999, the current owners undertook a complete below ground and up restoration of the cabin, including new foundation, plumbing, heating and electrical. The cabin was then fully enclosed and incorporated into a 1900 square ft expanded residence. The original square cut log walls and log beams form the interior walls of the sunroom, master bedroom and living room.

Situated to take full advantage of passive solar during the winter months, the enclosed sun room, kitchen  and artists room look east  and south to capture spectacular views of the 14,000 peaks of the Mosquito  and Sawatch Ranges. These peaks include Mt Massive and Mt Elbert, the two tallest peaks in Colorado. The home now provides two bedrooms and two bathrooms, including the log sided master bedroom.

The home is heated throughout by a highly energy efficient in-floor heating system powered by a high efficiency wood boiler backed up by propane. The living room also includes a lovely stone fireplace.

Over 1100 square feet of deck and patio space make outdoor living inviting and easy. In addition, the 900 square foot barn with 3 stalls, tack room, loafing sheds, historic ice house and out buildings make this a comfortable year round residence loaded with rustic mountain charm.

Located with 'end of the road' quiet and privacy down a fully maintained paved county road, Fox Crossing Ranch is only ten minutes away from the amenities and services of the city of Leadville.
